A handwritten letter from H. B. Ferguson to Harry George noting his stock of items is not accessible and discussing the Hudson Bay Company. Vol 1 P. 144B
Dear Sir:
I cannot comply with your request of July 7th because my stock of curios is not accessible.
A very severe blow has been dealt me the work and struggle of fifteen years had been almost wiped out.
As you will probably remember the Hudson Bay Co. had a branch store in the
corner of W. Annex. The Hollywood Gardens, located at Pine and second, secured a lease
on the corner in the annex thus throwing H. Bay Co. out. The owner of the building then
send a thirty days notice on me to vacate and leased my place to H. Bay Co. I had to vacate July 1st, beginning of harvest season and not a vacant store room on Second Ave! I obtained a foot hold with the taxi cab co. directly across from the Washington not room to turn around nor to show hardly any line! Sent my fixtures in four directions in order to find a roof to cover them. I know now why anarchy and socialism exist. That all my work and trade should be given to the H. B.Subject
