Description

Letter from H.B. Ferguson to Harry George discussing the shipment of a kayak. Vol. I, Pg. 143A Harry L. George : I am in receipt of your letter wherein you say you will take the kyak at my figures. It is my intention to pack this so it will go through undamaged. We plan to make a cradle, line with burlap and pad with excelsior and paper. The carpenter says the lumbar alone leaving about three inches between slats will cost $4.00. year or two ago this same lumbar sold for eight dollars per ?? it is now thirty. Of course we figure on using poor grade . He wants eight dollars for the work ^total cost which seems to me excessive for I am furnishing burlap and padding. I will make other inquiries and do my upmost to have this put up for least money. Labor is very high-priced here, now. I can probably answer your questions about cedar bark in a week or so. I'll have to get in touch with an Indian married to a white man. The others do not carry on a conversation. My price on kyak , as I wrote you is $75.00 Please reply promptly,
