Description

Vol I, Pg. 143B A two-page handwritten letter from H.B. Ferguson to Harry George discussing displeasure with Harry George for certain matters, the shipment of the kayak, and describing other things for sale. Dear Sir: Your letters of July 11 and 12 at hand. I returned your check without explanation because I was, and still am, displeased at your unjust criticism. In regard to the kyak the price of fifty dollars was quoted you last spring when I had an opportunity to take that money then and purchase an article that would have paid much better than holding out for a profit on the kyak. At no time did I have a thought of so much as crating it. As you were on the spot I expected you to assume that expense, considering low purchase price. The opportunity referred to has past. The price of kyak now equipid complete with walrus spear, leather thong and seal float attached, spear rest (is placed ??????????) and paddle is seventy five dollars net to me. All cost of packing & C must be met by purchaser. It is true there are other kyaks and you may be as well pleased elsewhere but I am reliably informed that none in this city is the equal of the one over the door in this shop More on the order of three in rear sooner. A wonderful old whaling outfit from this part of the world has just been shipped me for inspection offer. Don't think I can purchase for I'm sure the owner has an inflated value although no price was quoted Sincerely (The handwriting is slightly difficult to read, and some words have been crossed out, possibly indicating corrections or emphasis during the writing process. )
