Description

Vol 1 P. 231F Letter from Hamley & Co. to Harry George noting the shipment of a "Te-Kes" or baby carrier, and noting two bags a Cayuse woman has and that she might sell one. Dear Sir;- We have your letter of the 9th inst. We secured a "Te-Kes" from a Cayuse woman and sent same by express yesterday. We asked her about the bags the Cayuse indians made long ago and she said "No make 'em any more" but she has two at home, one small and one large one which she made herself. She does not want to sell the large one but said she would bring the small one in if we wanted it. As soon as she brings it we shall send it to you. Hoping that the "Te-Kes" is what you want and that we shall be able to send you a piece of genuine Cayuse work, we are, Yours very truly,
