Letter from Hamley & Co. to Harry George describing different baskets for sale.
Dear Sir;-
We have your letter of the 29th Ult. and note everything you say.
We have one small basket which we think is very good work, in its class, and are sending it by mail. The price is $1.00. This is the best piece of basket work we have at present but shall probably have more soon. If you do not care for this you may return it.
Once in a while we are able to get good hand bags made of raphia and corn husks but the prices for good ones are usually so high that we are afraid to take them. If you wish, we can send you an inferior piece of this kind of bag to let you see the style, then if you want a good one we shall watch and get one for you. The price on these runs from $8 to $15. The price depending on the mood of the squaw at the time of sale and whether or not she wants to sell the bag. The above, with the understanding that you can return the inferior bag.
Please understand that we shall be glad to do anything we can to assist you in getting new specimen for your collection.
You will find our prices always fair and anything you do not want you may return.
Yours very truly,Subject
