Description

Vol I pg. 23RR Letter from Harry George to Benham Indian Trading Company noting the baskets he would like to be laid aside and he will look at during his trip to California. Dear Sirs: I am just in receipt of your favor of the 26th, accompanied by photograph of the Pima and Apache baskets. Concerning same will state I expect to be in your city about the 1st of May on my way to SanFrancisco, and would like to have you lay aside for me the following baskets to be decided upon at that time. Number 1 " 2 " 13 " 14 " 18 " 23 When I wrote you I did not expect to visit your part of the country very soon, therefore thought I could arrange in some other way to get what I wanted. Since then, I have received an invitation to be present at the reception of the American Fleet of SanFrancisco, and unless sick will certainly go. I would very much prefer to look these baskets over and make such selections as will suit the collection I already have. If there is anything else in this collection you would like to lay aside for me I will be very glad to consider them, though I believe the above numbers will suit my purpose. Enclosed I hand you the cost of the photograph, which is to be returned to me in the event a purchase be made. While in Los Angeles I expect to call upon you and may find something else in our collection that may suit my purpose. If this does not meet with your approval please let me know and I will arrange in some other way, though I would prefer to be permitted to make a personal selection. Yours very truly.
