Letter from Herman Schweizer to Harry George noting the shipment of an item list of South Sea Islands materials and discussing the same. Goes with item list Vol. I, pg. 236D.
Dear Sir:
I am in receipt of your letter of the 10th and attach herewith, as you request, a list in duplicate of the South Sea Island material.
As I explained to you, the cost price of this lot of stuff twenty years ago was $1250.00. Of course, it was bought together with a lot of Indian material which has been sold, and as stated, I am glad to sell it at its inventory cost value to get it out of the way, because we would not care to put it on sale. I am anxious to get it out of the way this year, and if your friend is not interested I expect to send it to San Francisco this winter and have it sold there by one of the jobbers.
It took us half a day to get this stuff out and make this approximate list and put it back again. I would not pack it unless I received check in advance as it would be a big job to pack it and it would require several cases.
As per notation on the last item, there are a number of articles that are too difficult to list; some are not worth anything and some are, but they are just odds and ends.
Yours truly,Subject
Herman Schweizer
