Letter from Hudson Bay Fur Company to Harry George discussing items for sale. Vol 1 P. 243F
Dear Sir:-
Replying to your favor of the 27th.ulto. would mention that the old needle case contained no ivory needles, we, however, enclose a few, which we took from a newer case.
The old five arrows were all the quiver contained. We have some separate arrows, copper pointed at $2.50 each.
In the collection are also large Spears (Harpoons) about 8 feet long, an ivory piece forms the hand part, the wooden shaft is about 7 feet long, a native cooper rod 9 in. long is fitted to the wood, the spear head fits over the copper rod. The price of the complete spear is $16:00.
Since we made the shipment to you an expert from the museum of the American Indian, New York was here & took the larger part of the blond Eskimo collection, only leaving us some duplicates.
Among the collection we also received a number of the native copper nuggets, weighing from 3 to 50 pounds, they are priced at $1.50 per pound.
While we do not expect any more Curios from the blond Eskimos, we have a large shipment of Curios en route from the Artic, as yet we have no idea what it contains, should there be any attractive pieces among it we will let you know.
From what information we can gather the white metal, you refer to, is float tin which is quite plentiful in that section.
Anything you cannot use, kindly return, as soon as conveniently possible, as thee are many strangers here & everything in the Curio line can readily be sold.
Very truly yoursSubject
