Description

Letter from M.J. Kohlberg to Harry George noting he cannot accept the baskets and blankets Harry George shipped to him and that he is forwarding them to F.D. Letton. Also discussing a Chinese tablecloth. The letterhead includes an illustration of an American flag with a fringed border. Vol I pg. 305C Dear Mr George: I received the ten baskets and four old blankets, and have re-forwarded then to Mr. Letton in Ratan, as they were of a class that we cannot use. The blankets were mere rags, and the baskets were very poor specimens and too high in price. The party from whom I bought the Chinese linen tablecloths has decided not to part with either of the others. She has two more, but does not wish to sell them. I wrote to San Francisco but could not locate any, but one of the importing houses sent me two very beautiful ones. I think a little larger than the ones you bought, but without the drawnwork. I shall send them on to you tomorrow for your inspections, and in case you decide not to keep either one of them, kindly return some without delay. I thank you for the trouble you have gone to in reference to the baskets, and only regret they were not a better lot. I remain, with kindest personal regards Yours truly, (handwritten footnote at the bottom) Dec 4th This letter also the Table covers were overlooked to be such, they are forwarded tonight
