Letter from Mrs. J. Frohman to Harry George noting the check and letter received and discussing obtaining more baskets. Dated Jan 12, 190? Vol 1 P. 147B
My Dear Mr George
Your few lines and check of $5000 at hand - I will do my best for you about the baskets - only wish you would tell me how high I can go or the highest price I can pay if I see a good specimen of some Cal baskets.
I will keep the good luck one here & send all together when I return about Mar 1st . If you wish you can write me care Green Hotel Pasadena. If I can venture 50.00 more & I see good values - because you see if should pay 10 for good specimen or little more you can not get feather basket under 15 unless very small so you see you won't get many for $50.00 Regarding the Dat so la lee. The basket came to me as such but I really think myself it is a washer. They offer a Nevada basket as belonging to Dat so la lee or her sister, who made them only more on the order of the one I sent you -
You got your skokomish just in time - The mass on the reservation died & no more skokomish rulers for some collection -
I have paid as high as 20 & 30 for feather pomos
