Description

Vol 1 P. 269G Letter from Nathan Joseph to Harry George describing a South Sea canoe for sale. Dear Sir I have a very beautiful war canoe carved and painted by the natives of New Britain Savages of the South Seas in splendid Condition about 20 feet long which I will sell a bargain $250.00. There is no such a Canoe to be found out of that Country either in Europe or America. It is now on exhibition at the public museum in San Francisco and is certain by one of the most elaborate and unique specimens of a cane to be found anywhere. My friend Mr. Gilham gave me your name and address as a keeper of such. I am in no hurry for the money but want to sell as I am retiring from the business. The price is net therefore you will have to pay all expenses of freight & packing. If you are likely to buy I might take a photograph. Respectfully
