Context

A. Somewhere in France 31 Jan 45 1630(military time) Hello Baby Doll Its a spring day to-day, at least it is as warm as some spring days. It started raining last night and froze as it fell but to-day it has gotten warmer and it really has thawed. There has been a fine rain all day too which heled it to thaw. Result, nearly all of our pretty snow has gone. Lots of it lie on the outskirts of town yet. I have been on the go most of the day. This P. M. I took time off to take a sponge bath and put on clean clothes. It's nearly as good as taking a shower. I am slowly getting my clothes washed. I have 2 clean field jackets now and I sent out a lot of other clothes this afternoon. Hope I get them back before we leave here. There is no news to tell you darling. Everything seems to be under control. Today is payday and we got paid right on the dot. No mail to-day but I got about 6 papers. Will have something to read now in my spare time. This s Wed. already .Boy, the time sure does fly. Pretty soon it will be spring. Wonder how conditions will be by then. Hope this damn war will be over and we will be sailing for the good ole U.S.A. Guess you are plenty busy these days. Hope everything is well with you and that you aren't working too hard. Take care of your sweet self for me darling cause I love you. Your Anxious Sweetheart P.S. The last letter I got from you, the stamp was on the lower left hand corner of the envelope. Honey, what was you drinking? What I dont know about you !!!! B. The letter is postmarked ARMY POSTAL SERVICE FEB 13 1945. It contains an embossed orange round 6¢ Air Mail Stamp with an airplane in the center. There is an attached red, white and blue VIA AIR MAIL sticker. In the lower left corner is a square stamp that reads 'PASSED BY MAIL EXAMINER'
