Dr Mr George
Yours recd -
I hope and am certain when you read this letter that your confidence in my materials sent you will be fully restored - as I have always given you my very lowest price and no one can buy any less than I have priced pieces to you - and know when you receive the Osage life stick - you will say the Winnebago stick is all right - I sold out ????? weeks ago and have orders for two but cant furnish them at present - I have 2 Osage sticks - Now in regard to the shot makers - I never had but 2 or 3 that were as good as I sold you it was an exceptionally large fine old specimen - I have a number of small Winnebago shot markers that I sold in Ci\collections at 3.50 have only 1 on hand which have promised to Mr ??? Thornburgh but have not been able to find it as it was packed away but return to me & I will send to Mr Thornburgh - Is not to show you that your specimen is far superior in any way -
several years ago I sold 1 good specimen to ???? in Peru & thought the other sent to the museum NY & got I think 7.50 or 8.50 for 1 and 10.00 for the other.
I like to have you write plainly as it gives new opportunity to answer in same way. I try to give you good specimens and at lowest possible prices & can sell any time at prices given you & sometimes more. I have Collectors who buy all new & won't buy others.
You will notice the Winnebago stick is larger than Osage and a fine specimen I have as stated before a waiting order for it outside of this . I think any of the museums would take it - in fact they would take any & all of the best pieces suit you. I haven't the time to give the business the attention it should have. We have lots of stuff & lots stored away that we don't get out or try to sell. as few good pieces left & prices are bound to double in next few years. I shall at all times try to do right with you & other customers, & have no cut prices to offer. but shall always do best I can for you & Thank you for your business & should I have ant thing you want shall be pleased to send on approval.
very truly yours
