Description

Letter on official letterhead from the Department of the Interior, United States Indian Service, from Taylor P. Gabbard to Harry George describing the different kinds of baskets that are made. Vol 1 P. 162C Sir: Replying to your letter of Sept. 21, 1908, asking for more information concerning the kind of baskets made by the Indians under my jurisdiction, you are informed that the Indians make excellent willow baskets of various sizes, shapes and patterns, and find a ready market for them among their white neighbors and in the towns. Nevertheless, I have told them about your letters, and I think I shall be able to secure some baskets for you. Very respectfully,
