Two letters: the top one is blue and postmarked St. Joseph Mo., Feb ? with a blue 1¢ stamp and addressed to Mister Nuckols Co., Glenwood, Iowa. The letter seems to be typewritten with a font that resembles handwriting.
The lower envelope is tan with a postmark of St. Joseph, Mo JUN 8 1857. It includes a red 3¢
stamp and is addressed to Mst. Cristian Iseli, Weinsberg Ohio, Holmes Cone.
Between the two envelopes is written in heavy black ink "No. 9 to Iowa St. Joseph Circular Date Stamp, No. 10A yo Ohio, 1857".
The letters are folded in such a way as to make their own envelope.Context

I have this day associated with me one in the Wholesale Grocery Business, Mr. T.
R. Smith, late of Boonville. The business in future will be conducted in the name
of JENNINGS & SMITH.
Thankful for the patronage heretofore extended to me, I respectfully solicit at continuance
of the new firm.

We have removed into our LARGE NEW BRICK BUILDING on the corner of Second and
Francis Streets where we will open for the Spring Trade a large and varied Stack which3
will be bought principally for cash from the manufacturers in the South and East,
EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE WHOLESALE TRADE. And we do not intend retailing at all, we
will give our whole intention to the Jobbing Business and will guarantee to sell as
long as articles in our line can be bought from the Jobbers in St. Louis and landed here.
We will pay cash for Hemp, Bacon, and Sard and receive all kinds of Produce
from our customers in exchange for Goods.
