Letter to Amelia (unsigned)

1: Philidelphia Pa, Oct 30th 1859
Miss Ameila ...
Owingsville Bath Co Ky
My dear little friend I have written you two or three times and you have not condescended to answer it. What has been the cause You and I, as was good friends once and why not continue as such No doubt that you would be surprised to hear from me at this point but when I tell you my reason for writing all be explained tis now 8:00 and I have 2 1/2 hours to remain here before I can start home and I thought I could not employ the time better than writing to some of my friends and as I consider you as one of them I concluded to spend a portion of that time in writing to you. In the first place I was married on Thursday morning the 20th at 7:00 I took the cars at 7 25 minutes for this place when I arrived on Wed next -least at 11 and though on the way I stayed from Friday till Monday night with my wife at her father’s. Dont that seem strange, the idea of me being married I can hardly believe such is case Though I can say I am satisfied for I have one of the best little girls that it has ever been my good fortune to meet with I am happy and content
