Context

President Jimmy Carter The Whitehouse Washington, D. C. Dear Mr. President One of the Sunday School classes in the First United Methodist Church, St. Joseph, Missouri voted on Friday evening January 16, 1981 to decorate our church outside with yellow ribbons and furnish the small yellow ribbon to each member this Sunday morning to wear for the release of the hostages. Our minister announced the successful release of the hostages during our morning worship and our congregation stood and sang "Praise God from whom all Blessings Flow" followed by a prayer of the thanksgiving for our hostages, their families and you - Mr. President. Thank you for the peaceful ending of a hard job well done. Sincerely
