My Dear Daughter
I received a very welcome letter from you this morning after my return from market -
the first I have heard for ten days. I cannot complain of you think you very well in the way of writing.
I feel as happy as is possible for me this morning having received a letter from each of my dear
absent children.
I am glad you are having such a nice time but very sorry you cannot stay longer up in that part
of the country. I wanted you to stay there at least a month.
I wish I could see and talk with you all this morning every member of that dearly loved family, I
always loved them and ever shall. I know you are just as welcome there as you would be at your
own home give each and every one of them my love also. Harry Edsall I love him for his mothers
sake and would love dearly to see him.
I was over at your Grandma's this morning, read your letter to them, they were delighted to get
the news from dear relatives. Grandma says you must go to the graveyard where her mother is
buried down on Uncle Thompsons place and look at it well so you can tell her all about it. - how
it is fix up and ask uncle Thompson to send her word about it. I suppose she means the expense
is if he has put any monument or stones of any kind, she says to give her love to John Carter
in Carlisle and ask him to give the particulars of Cousin Parks Carters death.
did not know he was out of health until they saw his death in the Carlisle paper.
Pap would like to have a letter from him ask him to write to them. Your aunt Eddie says you must
be kind to Cousin John and I say the same.
I sent your ??? suit last Saturday by express it is blue flannel, a beautiful shade trimmed in white -
short skirt and Sailor blouse hope it will fit you nicely, there is an anchor embroidered in each point
of the collar and the cuffs ??? skirt. I embroidered on the machines ??? cords and this the briar
stitch and this ??? ??? ??? I have drawn it as near as I can and will include it in the letter also a scrap
of the material
Mrs Irvin ???? the the cap it is the same as the suit corded with white the band around the cap is
embroidered the same as the skirt and the crown is drawn over by one side with a white silk cord and
tassel. I thought it very pretty and very suitable. I want you to write and tell me what you think of it -
that is when you see it.
I am sorry you could not stay any longer in Nashville bur do not understand one thing she says.
Mr. Mc___ did not say anything about you leaving on saturday. I had a letter from Lulu a few days
since they did not leave Nashville for nearly a week after you did.
