Context

St Joseph, Saturday night June 2nd '73, Dear Sister, As I have not heard from you I thought I would write. grandpa and Grandma received a letter from Uncle Jim and he says that Bob Harvey caught a rattlesnake and said that they were going to express it to Mr. Hall the next time they were in Newton. We had a hard storm here this morning. Paul has the consumption and is about to die. He has fallen off very much. He is now under the bed trying to cough. I have not received a letter from Anna since you went away. Jim was out fooling with the chickens this morning over at Ms. Angles house and while he was under there a storm came up and he stayed under there with the chickens until he heard there was a letter for him from you. Lizzie says she misses you and would you write to her and wish that you would come home. She wants to see you. I passed from the third grade to the second grade. I'll send love to all from your loving brother Ed PS. my birthday is next Sunday, send me a present. Ed envelope
