A two page letter on blue stationary, folded twice and written on both sides to Miss Anna Nash, Care Mr. Rowland, Louisville, Kentucky, from 'Your loving friend, Robert'. The letter is inside a blue envelope with a 3¢ stamp. It is dated and postmarked September 29th 1874. The letter starts half-way down on the first page and continues from the top down.

Dear Anna
We are in the midst of our other Church troubles which seems to be the all absorbing ???? courses each time. At least among our own flock as it is the the nearest ever heard. Will discuss it first but will not ???? particulars as your Ma has kept you posted. We have no fears but we will have a large ?????? for ????? Mr. Facklin. but we are had at work informing all the number of the ??? preaching writing as this will be a full attendance and such a overwhelming ??? ??? that the Disa????? Party" will not have the slightest foundation to build on when ???? ???? upon Mr. Facklin handed us his assignment last Sunday evening and we are to ???? Thursday evening. Whether or not he will accept it. ??? ??? who does not ???? Friday. Your Mother is going to telegraph to you tonight, for ??? Jessie Hosea has been in Saint Louis for nearly two weeks back. I wrote for his ???? and received it this morning. ???? ??? ?? ???? but have been
writing for and will be here in time. Mr. Bennett was at Church last morning said to some of our family that he would have his ??? for Mr. G___ to continuing our Pastor. Sunday evening Mr. Edward ???? from Memphis Tenn. preached upon this subject. The ?????????? of Church to a large and appreciative audience. He is only 24 years old but is so remarkably ????????? is now on his way to the Pacific states where he hopes to build up his constitution where he reminds to his charges. His ??? here are quite fond of him and has ample cause.
Dr. Austin is working faithfully for Mr. Facklin. ??? ???? will inform you as soon as it is ??? of his results of the ??????. It is ????? by ?????????? to have as much strife and contention. I sincerely hope this is the last trouble. What will become of the missionary. Purely ???? to be seen. I scarcely know where to begin with general news. It has been so long since I wrote you back. I cannot possibly take up where I took off my last, will give you what comes to mind regardless of whether it is not your wishes is before me. Some after the receipt of your ????? letter, I much to say bothers and ????? and stayed ??? days. Had a very ????? and trip and a nice family visit. Clara Hosea came home with us and is now making (continues at the top of page 1) her home at Will's for the winter at Public School Mr. Wheeler enjoyed his lunch very much. I enclose you an item in reference to Dr. Carpenter I saved this for you sometime ago thinking you would ???? ?? ???. Mrs ????? and Rache came very near going to Chicago his round ticket was down to $8.00 one morning and before the second time they were up to regular fare, Rache may still go.
Mrs. Wilkinson gave a Party last Friday evening. There were about 45 - 52 guests I met each. Ike and Poach and Dr. & Ed were there. I was invited but do not care anything about Parties so I did not go. They spent a delightful evening. ??? ???? ????? to the ????? for the happy manner in which she ?????? him. We are on the eve of a Tea Party at this house but ???? ???? will not permit me to abuse my self. As only one guest is expected. I suppose I shall be ???? to the emergency.
I am glad to learn through your letter to Mrs. Nash that you are having such a delightful visit, Ere with all the good, but do not form habits of dissatisfaction they will ???? both mind and body. ??? ???? and our ???? to be ?????????? in all things.

Mr. Marlow was saying the last time I was down there that "no one loved him". It is time he is old enough to have been more ??????????. Our Sabath School ???? to the old time in the afternoon next Sunday. I am fearful Mr. Fachlin's Class will not be as large as before the change of time. Tell Miss Gertie, Mr. Blackmore is much improved ?? ?? ????????. Is more ???? whiskers. Lollie Weakley has been very ill but is better now. I dare say your Ma told you of Miss Georgie Malisa marriage to Louis ???? Craig (son of G??? Craig) about ten days ago. They went to Chicago for a week then he joined his regiment at Fort F??????. I think it is or was quite a sudden ?????. They were married in her home but by a Priest with very few guests. I must tell you Mrs. Marshall Wright had a baby also Mrs K???????? the baby is a girl named Jennie. Mrs Thom Brady and Will Mansfield's families ????? the house Dr. Porch ????? did when you left. He has the one just before where he was on ????? on whose high ???. The fourth family from Kentucky are going to move into Captain Kirkland's house. They ??? a smaller one so Frannie and her Ma can do the work. Their daughter Sallie that lived in Alma, Ill. has died and was brought home to be buried since you left Friday which I was at your Ma's. Eddie came in with one bone of his right arm broken. Dr. Hall was in ????? so we engaged Dr. Westmore to set it for him. Ed was out in town an half hour afterward. He ???? it up at school.
Mrs. Bard of our church is quite ???? with consumption. Eva ???? whether have come back to her and are housekeeping. Tell Harvey she is just as pretty as even when you see him. Mr. Biggerstaff and family are to head for California in two or three weeks, where they ??? to make their home. Our neighbors Fairboroughs that lived in the house your Uncle Jack built are fixing to go to Chicago to live if your Ma is thinking about taking his house.
