My Dear Daughter
I have received a letter from you this morning as I was on my way to church. I will try and answer it tonight for fear I will not have time tomorrow. I have not got my house straightened yet. The north room upstairs is in great disorder. I think ??? of taking it for my room or keeping it for company. I have been sleeping down stairs since I moved. I had to get a new carpet for the hall. I expect you will think it horrid ugly but it makes up in ????? I put the carpet I used in the middle room on fifth street on the dining room here. I have put your furniture in the south room upstairs it is by far the most pleasant room in the house.
You speak of a new carpet the old parlor carpet just fit by putting the old stair carpet on one side and across the entry. Guess I will have to get some new shades. This house is much more comfortable than the one on 7th and Francis. feel more at home here than any house I have been in since I left my home in Nashville.
I have just been to see your Aunt Rach and asked her about writing to your Aunt Mollie. She intends writing in a day or two. I like your best dress very well. Cannot say that I admire your calico your grandma says she thinks it will make her a very pretty dress. I am perfectly willing you should have your drab dress fixed there. Have all confidence in Miss Bettie and know that she can make it just as pretty and stylish as Mrs. Nichol. Just as your own pleasure about ##### it (but excuse the blot). I only thought it might be a trouble for your aunt but I guess she will not consider it so you must do all you can to assist her during your stay.
But by the way don't you think you had better make your mother a visit soon, say in four or five weeks. You spoke of coming home by the way of Gibson City. I think there will be several changes for you to make and if there is would rather you wont come straight through as you will be alone. Direct to the corner of Main and Antoine, North west corner. You had better have your hat fixed or get you a new one which ever you and Mollie thinks best, you had better get a water proof cloak.
I shall expect you home in November. Want you to come home before the hard winter comes on. Your Aunt Rach has furnished the room your Aunt Edd had has as a parlor or setting room the carpet is beautiful, drab ground with bright flowers. Your Uncle Ike bought a new carpet for their room brown ground both are Tapestry what can a good quality of English tapestry be bought for in Chicago.
Your Grandmother & father and myself went down to your aunt Eddies this evening and took supper had a very nice supper, They are nicely fixed up. I will not try to tell you will let you see for yourself. Mr. Ridenbaugh died today had a congestive chill last night. ??? to Henry that I saw Miss Eva this evening, she is as pretty as ever. Tell him I was disappointed in not getting a letter from him last week. Give my love to your Grandma, aunt Marella and Laurena. I guess they have inquired for me although you have never said so in your letter. Tell me more about Mr. Haley and how much you think of him. I would write more but it is getting late and I must go to bed have to get up and give Robert his breakfast early. Write me just what you need and tell me about your money. I know you will not have enough but give ???? ???? what to send you.
Write soon to your Mother
Tell Henry to write to me this weekend

My Dear Daughter
I wrote you a few days since but will not wait for an answer as I have a few things to say to you. You asked me something about your hat. I think you had better get you a new hat as fashionable shape and fix the other one up for ????. The shafers we have here are certainly different from your last winter hat that is why I ?????? you getting a new one. I know you will run short of funds let me know about what it will take to clear you through and pay your fair home. I want you to come home and help me sew what do you think of that?
I think I have written all that I can think of at ???? you will get all the news from Henry letter. When you come home you had better come straight through.
Mr. Wheeler was up last night and hung my pictures and two shades. I saw Dr. A???? two or three nights since over at your Grandmas the box of summer clothing came all right and Sarah carried them all over the house and made a great fuss over them they are now hung up for the winter.
