Context

A. Dear Cousin I take the pleasure of dropping you a few lines to let you know that we are all well. I got home from St. Joe Tuesday might very late. I would like to come back to St. Joe to live, I would like to be there to go to church once in a while. I have to far to go over here and then there is not church often enough. Tell Sis that she went home a little too soon we had one of the finest parties over at the Mission I ever did see. I did not get home till noon next day. I got down to Mr. Herrings about an hour before day. It came off last Friday night. I had been at Mr. Herrings since Thursday evening at 8 o'clock and stayed there till Saturday noon. We are seeing some good old times over here now although I would see a better time if I was back in old St. Joe. By the way Sis Parker and Kate ? ? ? went and danced ? ? ? ? ? ? and then church members. I want you and Sis both to write to me oftener than you have been doing. Tell Sis to tell Lucy Thornton if she will write to me first I will answer her letters. I think she is mad at me and if she does not me first I will not write to her first that is if she is not married. If she is married dont say anything to her about it write as soon as you get this. Tell Sis to write and tell me what Lucy. This is about all I have to say just now so good bye. From your most affectionate friend Horace Riney To Miss Rosa Estes Please do not let anyone read this letter. I have spoiled one sheet of paper and thrown it away. I will not throw this away. Please excuse bad writing Please hand the enclosed slip of paper to George himself let nobody else see it. B. The envelope has a green embedded 3¢ stamp with a profile of George Washington. At the bottom the envelope reads 'care of Miss Bush'
