9/14/08. Washburn & Sons, Neah Bay, Washington. Dear Sir: Answering yours of Sept. 9th will state my records show that I prepaid the express on the baskets I returned. If there should be shy charges on the name let me know and I will give the matter attention from this end. The package had doubltless reached you by that time. If notl let me know and I will have it looked into. I did not expect you to stand the expresson the goods which I returned to you which I could not use. I think I wrote to you at the time the package was received that the box was broken and it would have been very easy for the arrows to have aliped out or been taken out. Any way they were not in the package when it was delivered to me. If you will send them to me as you say, I will send you the amount of money necessary to cover the cost of the bow and arrows though I have no use for either one. In all I have paid between $5.00 and $9.00 express charges on this package so the cost to me in very heavy taking into consideration the amount of merchandise that was kept by me. However, you did the best you could to please me and I have no fault to find. One of the extra items of expense was sending the baskets to St. Joseph by way of Chicago. The Northern Pac. should have delivered them to one of their connections at St. Paul, thereby saving $2.00 express charges. Chicago lies 500 nrth and east of here while St. Paul is only about 500 miles north of here.
