Context

The Case of the Missing Historical Picture Panel at the Gateway Arch, St Louis - Lewis & Clark encountered a massive 150 foot block of sandstone at Pompeys Pillar, Montana in their 1806 expedition and named it after Sacajawea's son. Clark carved his name on the face and the Burlington Railroad protected the name and date for prosperity; it remains today. However, this is the only tangible record that show the explorers were there. The author feels there should be a panel at the base of the Gateway Arch Museum depicting this event and is disappointed that there is not.
