Context

Dearest Barley - Here it is Sunday again. How the weeks fly by! Soon 'twill be spring, and we've hardly had any winter yet. . . . yesterday, the weather was . . . - sunny, cloudy, rainy, "sleety", "haily", then sunny again. . . . . . Daddy & I had cleaned up the car . . , so naturally I would have it out when it rained, etc. That's life! . . . . . . . the last City League games , . . . were last night. Lafayette lost to C.B., . . ; and Central beat Benton . . for the championship, . . . It was a really good game . . . Our boys just cannot play two games in a row, . . . . But they all get pretty tired, having to play so long & so often. Missouri won! . . . Guess we will try to come down this weekend. . . Hope the weather remains good. Mary Ann . . told me . . her mother took the course John taught - . . . , the "School of Christian Living" . . and she now concluded that John is terrific! . . . . . . . Mary A is . . . thinking about staying home next year and taking some library courses by correspondence. . . . . . . . . . I'll brief you on the sermon. John began by telling in modern language, the . . story of the prodigal son. . . . . . . ". . . its message and meaning are perfectly clear. . . . Perhaps we have hit the highlights only . . . two sons different in temperament and character. . . . . . . . the younger . . . finally saying, "Give me my . . . rightful inheritance - and let me seek that which I desire." . . . . eventually we exclude God from our lives, if we always demand our rights. . . . . . . . if we expect certain things of our friends, then we do not understand the meaning of friendship. . . . . . . So it is in marriage. . . . "(it is) not a contract, it is a commitment- . . . . They have no rights, but to love. . . . If (they) have shared affection, joy, and understanding, so much the better. But they have no right to expect these things. We talk of peace, but we do not work for peace. . . . . . And our nation was just as insistent on the veto power as any other. We demanded our rights . . . . "We have no rights, but - to protect, to encourage, to enhance, to implement the rights of others." . . . . . . . We had a nice crowd and a big choir. Tommy is back!. And Miller Lacy and Larry Moore are singing . . . . . . . Bill Rowe's wife had a baby boy last week . . . . I'm being blasted out of my seat again. Mother & Daddy went out to Kroger's Thursday night, when I was gone. . . . . . Tonight the Young Adults are meeting. . . . .Tomorrow Mrs. Norris is taking our circle out to supper. . . . This letter goes on & on, but I always have so much to say. "Above and Beyond" is at the Trail. . . . Everyone seems to agree with your opinion of it. Last Tues our faculty had a party at school . . . . . The meal was Potluck . . . Everything was excellent. The Orphe Delphian banquet is next Wed. - I have an A.A.U.N. meeting that afternoon. . . . Well, I guess I've rattled on long enough for one day. . . . . we hope to see you Saturday! Lots of love, Thanks for the cute Valentine! _______________________________________________________ (On the front is a picture of the church and the names of the church officials) (Inside) PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP Max Regar GOD SPEAKS AND WE ANSWER THE WORSHIP OF PRAISE THE SPOKEN WORD John Olert, Jr. THE SERVICE OF DEDICATION CHURCH NOTES OUR INVITATION: In the name of Jesus Christ, we welcome you to this hour of worships. . . . . .
