Context

Querida, Ma & I are dashing off a few lines to you before plunging into the making of your yellow dress. She has already been working on it; I'm going to help her. I just finished writing two formal acceptances, to the weddings of Jean Irwin and Barb Douglas. Jean's is on the 20th, . . and Barb's the next day. . . . . ? It is hot here - has been all week. . . . . . , Tues. (graduation was very pleasant. - . . . . I went with Bertha. , . . . . She sat on her glasses . . . - but . . . had an old pair she could wear that night. Bill Mason was there to see his brother . . . graduate. . . . I saw John Kretzschmar too; . . . He looked wonderful. . . . another Kretzschmar . . will be a freshman next year. . . . Charlie Thomas was there, too. He is a papa now, and still in the Navy. I cannot believe that school is out. . . . This is the first year I've been really sorry to see end. . . . . . hope (my classes) are good next year. I'm scheduled for two Spanish classes; . . . 8th grade math and an Eng. Arts class. . . . . My 8th grade Eng class picnic Monday was a success. . . . . Went to Krug. . . . . My Spanish class presented me with a corsage. . . - very pretty. . . . They also gave me a Spanish Club pin, . . . McKenney's arm is healing all right - . . . He was quite disgruntled that it happened on Derby Day. . . . . Guess I'll go to choir tonight . . . And we'll be singing familiar anthems, . . . Mary Ann has bought herself a car - a '48 Plymouth coupe - . . . It's real nice, . . . They are deep in preparation for the wedding; . . . Her mother made dresses for her and Sue, . . . I will close now. Glad you passed in everything! Love, Marilyn ______________________________________________________________________________________ Baby Doll - One busy day as I'm trying to finish your "yellow" dress. . . . & thinking of everything else I had to do. . . . . . . I hope we can get there around noon or so. . . . . Glad you liked your skirt. . . . Lovely for the girls to give you such a nice gift. . . . . I feel terrible that I didn't get your blue wool finished . . . Glad you have your trunk ready. . . . . . I'm going to talk to the girls tonight so will know what we're doing. . . . . . . Do you suppose you could get a pair of low heeled shoes there - not too expensive . . but comfortable. . . . Much love, always Mother
