Dearest Barb -
'Tis a lovely, fallish, crisp day. . . . . we may go out to Rosecrans to see the new administration building. . . . EWe went out to Wyeth Hill to see the dynamiting yesterday, but . . we couldn't see the point where they blasted. . . . Mizzou didn't have much trouble with K-State, did they?. . . . .
I must tell you the most startling news first. George Lacy got married!! To Donna Ruth Coy, . . . . . . I never heard of her. . . . . Sallie confirmed it . . . they were married Friday and have gone on their honeymoon. . . . . George is to be called by the draft board in November. Virginia is just sick about it; . . . .
I saw John before church and asked him . . about Charlie's resigning. . . . He . . . , said it was his wife's health; She . . couldn't stand the stress of all her duties. . . . .
We had a big congregation today. John's meditation was short but to the point. . . . "the ground at the foot of the cross is level ground", where we all, . . . stand together. . . . African native as well as . . . cultured Americans. . . . But Jesus' agony and sacrifice appealed to them all; Mary Magdalene, . . . John, . . . Pilate, . . . and to the Roman soldier. . . . . . . .
We sang pretty well today, . . . Larrie . . . said, "I'll need you over here" pointing to the sopranos. . . . .
The Rochester Cardinals . . , . . . beat K. C. in the little World Series . . . .
Brooklyn's doing pretty well, you say? . . . .
Last Wed. at choir practice Larrie celebrated all the birthdays in August and Sept. So you and I were honored. . . . . They had coffee & cake. . . . . . it was a lovely party. . . .
The Bible celebration program last Tuesday was very nice. I went by myself . . Mother was tired and Daddy said he wouldn't hear. . . . Also saw John, who had done real well on . . . , the prayers of thanksgiving. . . . . He's prexy of the Council of Churches . . . . . .
You really are having the lessons, aren't you? The profs must be pouring it on, . . . I hope yours are learning more.
Haven't heard anything about your skirt at Derge's yet. . . . Maybe they'll get it in time for Easter!!
We went to Lexington Friday night . . . . We had a wonderful night . . . We won the game, too, . . . Now if we could only beat Central next Friday! . . .
I hope we have nice weather next week-end. . . . We plan to leave here early Sat. morning so as to arrive before the noon rush.
Tomorrow night I have an A.A.U.N. board meeting, . . . .
Bea Senor had a baby girl one day last week. . . . .
Well sweetie, I s'pect I've bored you long enough, . . . Hope you are well . . . We'll be seeing you next Saturday.
Love,
P.S. Billie says Sparky will go to Virginia next for 4 months, and no women allowed! She's crushed, utterly -
