At FJ Bruton's March 6th Dear Richard I am enjoying myself better than I thought I could under present circumstances Nettie and Frank are so kind and the children mischievous Then they have a good assortment of books free for my perusal. You know they will interest me when all else fails. We are going to Sis and Mrs Burton's one day I get along finely Hope you had your room at home perfumed with a more pleasant extract than the one you spoke of at sycamore I thought from the time you got to St Lewis you would get home Friday night That was too bad but then you must not get out of humor at incidents If you meet with no worse than that I will be very thankful The Dr. brought your letter written at S and one from Pa and Nan yesterday evening It was refreshing you may know for me to learn you had got that near home safe and sound We had some rain last night The grass is getting to look green It seemed to grow an inch last night This morning while you are being whirled along at the risk of your life over mountain and dale I am quietly seated trying to interest you a week hence while the frogs are pouring forth sweet tones of melody as trying to cheer my poor bereaved heart
