Life and Manners in the Frontier Army is an outgrowth of a short, largely biographical appraisal of Charles King written for "Arizona and the West". In reading his novels, It was discovered that many segments were autobiographical in origin. They contained invaluable historical commentary which deserved to be put together as social history, hence this book.
