Lincoln Highway, Main Street across America details the evolution from 1915 of this first auto route across the United States from New York to San Francisco from its earliest days to modern day. The text and recent photographs are by the author, but many earlier photographs are included. There is a list of place names along the highway in 1915-1916.
Inserted into the book is a page from a National Geographic magazine that includes the article "Historian hits the Road" about the road first built by General Braddock in 1755 that later served as a foundation for the National Road and later U.S. Route 40.
