--Picture as Lindbergh took off on his daring Atlantic flight
Lindbergh hops off for Paris in monoplane "Spirit of St. Louis" The intrepid flyer had several narrow escapes in taking off, as his light plane, carring a heavy load of fuel had difficulty in rising from the runway. Because of the early hour at which the photo was taken and the fog, which had just begun to lift, the picture is not very distinct.
--Picture Lindbergh's backers helping him into his flying togs--the lanky Missourian traveled light on trans-atlantic flight, carrying no luggage and meager rations consisting of five sanwiches and two canteens of water.
