Family linen. Personal family linen would not
have had much value and was therefore kept in
the Moss family after the banruptcy in the late
1920's. It was passed down to Catherine Moss
Barrow and then to my mother, Catherine Barrow
Kessberger, and then to me, Margaret
Kessberger Sparrow. Much of it may have been
wedding gifts on the occassion of Catherine
Moss's marriage. There is also some Barrow
linen. A large number of pieces are
monogramed.: "M" for Moss, "CCM" for
Catherine Carbry Moss, "B" for Barrow, "L" for
Leach. Included are a large number of linen
towels; guest towels, hand towels and even
some full size bath towels, in use before terry
cloth became popular; Bed linen including pillow
cases and sheets with the Moss monogram and
beautifully stiched pillow covers for baby pillows.Context
