Lost America has a subtitle of From the Mississippi to the Pacific. Apparently there was a previous companion book with the subtitle of From the Atlantic to the Mississippi. Included is a section devoted to buildings threatened with demolition. The foreword discusses possible reasons for demolition and also presents reasons for preservation. Photographs are of buildings all over the western half of the United States, i.e., west of the Mississippi. Included is the home of Joseph Robidoux's daughter called the Beauvais House. The Index lists buildings by their names followed by the city where they are located.
