Scope and Content
Monthly time book for male & female employees working in the dietary department from November 1939 thru November 1945.
In the front of the log book is a letter from Sue Davis, secretary to Dr. Hanks, to department heads. This letter advises department heads to turn in a report every Friday showing the following:
All new employees
All employees leaving service
All employees taking leave of absence or returning from leave of absence
All transfers to other departments
All transfers to your department from other departments
All changes in salary
All changes in name of employee, as when female is married or divorced
Any other changes regarding the employees in your department
New employees must report to the secretary's office to fill out a pink slip, which must go to Jefferson City the week they are employed.
At the end of the month a report should be turned in including vacations, leaves of absence & illness, new employees & employees leaving service.
On the second page of the log is a note stapled to the page stating that all log books must be kept according to the following form or they will not be accepted for payment:
Name of employee
Each day of the month should be filled in according to the following:
1-work
X-off work, no pay
V-vacation, with pay
O-accident, off work with pay
The log book contains an alphabetized list of male & female employees working in the dietary department. At the end of the month behind each name is the rate of pay for that employee. Notations concerning the employee are sometimes made behind their name.
In November of 1943 they started adding lists of employees who worked holidays & got additional pay. These lists were stapled to the page of the month that the holiday fell.
