Marking Missouri History was begun in 1951. A ten year project, it placed historical markers in highway turnouts and roadside parks throughout the state. As a part of the Missouri Historical Society's centennial celebration of 1898-1998, this publication reprints for the first time, all the marker texts in a single volume. The markers are grouped into ten vacation regions.
