The portfolios were put together by Thomas Loraine McKenney, Superintendent of Indian Trade under Presidents Madison, Monroe, John Quincy Adams and Jackson and James Hall , frontier lawyer, judge, newspaper editor, and author. This book is composed of Book One: Thomas Loraine McKenney: Shadow Catcher of the Indians, Book Two: The Wilderness Ambassador, and The Portrait Gallery.
