Message and Documents, War Department, Part 1,1868-69 . This book contains the reports of the Secretary of War . The title page states that this book is the Message of the President of the United States and Accompanying Documents to the Two Houses of Congress at the Commencement of the Third Session of the Fourtieth Congress. It was originally part of a collection of books owned by the Turnverein Society, an early German society of St. Joseph. It is a large book not only including various documents, but often direct quotes by members supporting those documents. Detailed supply orders are included as well as results of elections.
