General news, editorials and local advertisements Page 1: "A Conscripts Epistle to Jeff Davis", purports to be a letter to Jeff Davis picked up in a rebel camp by a member of the Union Mounted Rifles. Dead bodies shipped by rail from Gettysburg battle. Page 2 includes articles concerning the Civil War. Of particular note: "Blacks leaving Missouri to enlist" "Returned Rebel" an editorial about what to do when Confederate soldiers return to Missouri after fighting for the south.
