Page 2 includes articles concerning the Civil War. Of particular note: "The Meeting at Paola, Kansas" reports on the gathering of Kansans from all over the State to protest the bushwacker activities on Kansas soil. They were ready to cross the border into Missouri to pursue such men but were prevented by order of Gen. Scofield. The article deals with the growing tensions between Missourians and Kansans.
