Moss (J.B) Residence, 906 Sylvanie, Photo, 1891. Designed by Eckel & Mann's architect, Harvey Ellis. Constructed 1890. The house actually faces 9th Street. In 2017, the house still stands; it had been converted into a Mexican Restaurant, Barbosa's Castillo. 2 views. Three-story brick mansion with sharp-gables ending in spires. Rounded annex with garden room atop on south side. Built on raised elevation, surrounded by rock wall. Situated on SE corner of 9th & Sylvanie. 2017.2.128A = Sepia. Handwritten at bottom: "Residence of J. B. Moss, St. Joseph, MO. 1891" 7¾ x 9¼, pasted on scrapbook page, 8" x 10'. Poor condition. 2017.2.128B = 5" x 7", Photo taken later perhaps 1930s.. Mature trees in front yard. Stonewall has been replaced with poured concrete. Majestic Studio imprint at lower right
