New York City's Last Frontier has a subtitle of "Field Trips on Staten Island." It seems to have been written by the author as a means of showing Staten Island's natural areas and plants as they were at the time and and hopefully to encourage followers to preserve the island with its natural habitat "so that our posterity may have even the littlest glimpse of the green island that the Indians called Aquehonga."
