A page and a half copy of the newspaper article "Cargill Family Name Is Closely Connected With St. Joseph History", "Robidoux Greeted Group on Arrival 106 Years Ago". It was written by Ada Lyon and appeared in the Oct. 2, 1950 issue of the St. Joseph, Mo News-Press. As of the time this article was written fourth, fifth and sixth generations live in St. Joseph. They include Robert Orr, brothers Stephen, Herbert, and Arthur Owen; Mrs. Clarence Stroup; Wallace Orr, and Mrs. Graham Porter.

Context

A. The article provides the history of the Cargill family and their decedents. Featured pictures are: -Miss Luella Owen, one of the three sisters. She painted a portrait of her grandfather, James Cargill. -The other two daughters, Mrs. James Owen and Mrs. E. D. Ford along with their mother founded the Christ Episcopal Church. -Mr. and Mrs. James Cargill -George Cargill, the youngest son of Mr. & Mrs. James Cargill and Rev. R. W. Weller who rode to the Cargill farm to warn that a crowd of Union men were on their way to hang George. -John Colby Cargill, the eldest son. He was a member of the city council and helped his mother run the family farm after his father's death. -Capt. George Nelson, brother of James. B. Among duplicate photos of the first page, is that of Capt. John Nelson Cargill, grandson who joined the Confederate army.
