O' Freedom Print Documentation Collector's certificate of Edition. This certificate states that the title of the fine art print "Oh Freedom" is print number 306 from a signed and numbered edition of 1,000 prints. The artist's name is Carolyn Coffield and the date of the edition is 1980. This certificate guarantees that this lithograph is a Fine Art Collectors Print reproduced from an original work by the artist. This print was an effort of Carolyn Coffield to try and illustrate the struggle of the Black man in America. Many persons fought and died in the battle for freedom. The heritage of our roots in Africa, the dark days of slavery with the cotton fields and branding iron, the journey North through the Underground Railroad, and the 1960's marches in the South are minute scenes in the painting that serve as reminders of the weary years and the silent tears of our forefathers. The flag is a part of the composition to reflect on America's symbol of freedom and faith. The love of liberty was the cornerstone of our country. Yet this statement from the Declaration of Independence is not a reality, but an illusion for many. Man cannot make man free. "OH Freedom" emphasizes my excitement for the freedom I have experienced because of My Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Only in him do I have liberty and freedom. Signed: Carolyn Coffield.
