The Oregon Trail is Francis Parkman's account of the time he spent on his journey west. In Wyoming he determined to join a band of Indians who were on the warpath against an enemy tribe. He lived with them through the long summer, sharing their buffalo robes and participating in one fascinating adventure after another, until it was time to return to his friends and start the journey home. Here is a picture of the West in the old, brutal days before the railways and the barbed-wire fences. It is a delightful book, full of historical interest, colorful anecdote, and furious adventure, and written with the enthusiasm and skill which made its author famous. Illustrated by Thomas Hart Benton. This book is from the Don Reynolds collection.
