The Parker Lyon - Harrah's Pony Express Museum is a photographic survey of the Museum's collections before it was split up and sold to public institutions and private collectors. Lyon began collecting all sorts of Western memorabilia in 1910. He later founded the Arcadia Museum in California to show his collections. When Lyon died in 1949, the whole collection was purchased by W.F. Harrah and portion of it was displayed in Sparks, Nevada. In 1976 Harrah began selling off some of the Pony Express material in storage. Harrah died in 1978. In 1986 Greg Martin purchased what was left and in turn sold some of these items. He said that they had gone full circle and were again in the hands of the collecting world. Using old museum records of Lyon, Martin wrote this book.
