Context

Circa 1888 LOUIS FOX 306 South 6th Street Circa 1905 SAMUEL WEINER CLOTHING 306 South 6th Street Circa 1917 SAMUEL WEINER CLOTHING 306 South 6th Street Circa 1917 MAX KELNER TAILOR 306 South 6th Street Circa 1921 SAMUEL WEINER CLOTHING 306 South 6th Street Circa 1924 MAX KELNER TAILOR 306 South 6th Street Circa 1930 MAX KELNER TAILOR 306 South 6th Street Circa 1942 MAX JAMES CLOTHING 306 South 6th Street BARGAIN CENTER 306 South 6th Street WILLIAM COOPER BARBER SHOP 306 South 6th Street COOPER'S SECOND HAND & ANTIQUES 306 South 6th Street 510 AA CLUB 306 South 6th Street Demolished during Urban Renewal This double storefront building was substantially rebuilt in 1928 by Louis Fox who dealt in dry goods, but did not operate from this structure. A commercial building of this general configuration frist appeared on the 1897 Sanborn Fire Insurance map not showing the preceeding one of 1888. The face of the building however appears to date from the 1928 rebuilding This vernacular structure would not detract from the establishment of an historic district in the surrounding area of high quality 19th & 20th century commercial buildings. The street facade is divided into two bays each containing formerly similar storefronts
