There have been commercial buildings on this site since 1883, the most famous of which was the Buffalo Saloon at 412 Edmond, reported to have been established in 1854 and operated into the 1940s. Its facade was drastically altered in the 1954-55 reconstruction of 402-412 Edmond, however, remnants of the tavern's segmentally arched lintels can be seen from the alley on the east. The present facades lack sufficient architectural interest to contribute to the establishment of a historic district in this area of high-quality 19th and early 20th Century commercial buildings.
Leon Block was the proprietor.
I'm sure everybody remembers Block's Army Surplus at 4th & Edmond.
He had the best price in town for Levi's jeans, canvas, boots, sleds, and just about anything you would possibly wantCollection
