BIRD'S EYE VIEW FROM DOWNTOWN POST OFFICE This is a later photo of the downtown retail district as seen from the tower of the old customs house and post office. The buildings in the foreground, at 8th & Edmond were destroyed when the Missouri Theater complex was built in 1927. The only building to survive was the men's shoe store on 8th Street, pictured on the right side of the photo. Felix Street is the next street north. The buildings on the south side of Felix street are still standing. All of the buildings on the north side of Felix were removed during Urban Renewal. The area between 7th & 8th Streets is now called Felix Street Square
