Drug Store Fire: 1 of 4 (1) 2020.25.675 (2) 2020.25.680 (3) 2020.25.708 (4) 2020.25.677
The fire damaged Eshelman's, Junction Shoe Repair, the Recreation Club Bowling Alley, Robert Smith Insurance and Herman's Drug store.
A large crane was brought in to aid in removing upper leval material.
Check out the old fashioned hard rubber wheels on the crane's trailer
Note the giant bowling pin sign was located on the corner edge of Herman's Drug store
The bowling ally was on the 2nd floor 121 S 6th. The bowling alley had old wooden floors and did not have automatic pin setters, they hired kids to set the pins manually
I worked there one night setting pins for 10 cents a game, it was pretty dangerous
