When the St. Joseph Museum ended its contract to operate the Pony Express National Memorial, a determination was made as to what items actually belonged to each museum. Those considered the property of the Pony Express Museum were transferred there. Most were given a new item # beginning with the letters PE to distinguish them from those owned by the St. Joseph Museum.
When documents were transferred a photocopy was made and kept in a separate container by the St. Joseph Museum. The documents in this container have the following numbers.
